1.A Fox Without a tail
Once, a fox was quietly
crossing a field. But alas, suddenly he got trapped. Then he tried hard to come
out of the trap. It was only after a tough struggle that she got free. But his
tail got cut off. He was ashamed of his loss. “How ugly I shall look!”
moaned the fox, “The other foxes will laugh at me!” Thinking hard, the
fox came up with a plan to save himself from being laughed at. For a
long time he kept away from the other Foxes, for he knew well enough that they would
all make fun of him and crack jokes and laugh behind his back. But it
was hard for him to live alone, and at last he thought of a plan that would
perhaps help him out of his trouble. He called a meeting of all the Foxes,
saying that he had something of great importance to tell the tribe.
When they were all gathered together, the Fox without a Tail got up and made a
long speech about those Foxes who had come to harm because of their tails. He
said that men hunt Foxes simply for their tails, which they cut off as prizes
of the hunt. With such proof of the danger and uselessness of having
a tail, said Master Fox, he would advise every Fox to cut it off, if he
valued life and safety. When he had finished talking, an old Fox arose, and
said, smiling: “Master Fox, kindly turn around for a moment, and you shall have
your answer.” When the poor Fox without a Tail turned around, they laughed
aloud and replied, “You used to say that tails looked very fine when your own
was all right. Now that you have lost yours, you want us to lose ours too.”
2. Grasp All Lose all
Once upon a time there lived a farmer in
a village. The farmer was very poor and within his small income he was unable
to continue his family properly. He always thought how to increase his income.
One day he bought a goose from the market. From this goose, he hoped to get
more eggs and geese. After some days when the goose became matured, it
started laying eggs. The eggs were golden and it made the farmer so happy.
Every morning the goose laid a golden egg and the farmer used to sell the
golden egg to the market. Within a short time the luck of the farmer became
changing. Gradually he became rich. Actually, the farmer was very greedy and
impatient. So, one day he thought that if he cut the belly of the goose he
would get all the eggs at a time and by this way he would be rich overnight.
So, to have all the eggs at a time one day he took a sharp knife and cut the
belly of the goose. But alas! There was no egg inside it. He was so sorry and
started crying. Finally, he realized his fault and the reason behind losing all
is greediness.
3. A friend in need is a friend indeed
There lived two close friends in a certain village. They
were very fond of travelling. One day they went to a forest to see the natural
beauty. They were walking along the path of the forest. They were so spell
bound by the excitement of the forest that they even did not notice that they
had entered into the deep forest. After that, they noticed that they had lost
their wayThey knew it very well that the forest was abode of various wild
animals. So, they promised to one another that they would never leave each
other in times of danger. One friend knew how to climb on a tree but the other
did not. Anyway, they were walking through the jungle and searching the way.
All on a sudden, they saw a bear coming towards them. They both got
frightened. One friend said, “Dear friend, I will climb up a tree. As you don’t
know how to climb, you had better run away.” The other friend became very
disappointed hearing this. But he knew that a bear doesn’t touch a dead body.
So, finding no other way, he capitalized the idea and fell flat on the ground
like a dead person. When he guessed that the bear was just beside him, he
stopped breathing. The bear smelt the body of the lying friend and thought him
to be a dead body. So, it did not touch him and went away gently. The friend on
the tree saw everything. When the bear away, he got down from the tree. He went
to his friend and asked him eagerly. “Dear friend, what did the bear whisper
into your ear?” In reply the friend said, “It advised me not to trust a friend
who leaves his friend at the time of danger.” At this, the false friend felt
embarrassed and left the place. So, we must be very careful in choosing
friends.

4. Your
Best Friend
A friend is one, who has the
feelings of friendship. We can't go in this age of global relationship without
friendship. A good friend is a heavenly bliss to us. I have a good friend. He
is Rebel by name. I have known him for more than seven years. At school from a
hard quarrel our friendship started. He quarreled with me for a specific
ground, but I was very cruel to him. Even I hit him seriously, but he didn't
take it otherwise. In spite of reverse attitude, he remained calm and quiet. It
pulled me near him and at last, he has become my best friend. He is a boy of
mild nature. He doesn't talk to others unnecessarily. He doesn't harm others.
There are many good qualities in him. Honesty, modesty, politeness, sincerity,
mildness, orientation to reading books and the liking are the qualities
available in my friend. The feelings that he shows me is undoubtedly genuine
and bonafide. This great feeling of friendship made us two best fiends. Infact,
we are apples of eyes of each other.

The cuckoo sings sweet song . It is the best of all seasons.
My
Daily Life
As
a student, I lead a life of honesty and simplicity. By habit I get up early
from bed and clean my parts of the body and brush my teeth with a brush. I take
physical exercise to keep my body healthy and fit and if it becomes advantageous
for me, I take a walk of about one kilometer.
I
get refreshed with the morning walk or a little exercise and then prepare
myself for the study with utmost sincerity. It is against my principle to put
off today's work for tomorrow or to have any private tutor. I accept the
guidance of my elder brother who has proficiency in English and mathematics as
well.
After
devoting myself to study from 7 A.M. to 9 A.M., I play games for sometime
without having any rigid rules. After bathing in the well, I take my meal
prepared by my mother at 9.45 A.M. and proceed to the school situated at a
distance of only one furlong from my home.
The
classes begin at 10.30 A.M. usually. I go to school with my good friends and
occupy the first bench. On the way to school I talk a great variety of topics
with students coming from different parts of the town. I maintain
punctuality
in attending classes. The first period begins with English taught by our
Headmaster. I do have an aptitude for this subject. Our class begins after the
prayer class and after the National Anthem is sung.
All
our subjects like Social Studies, Science, Mathematics, Sanskrit, etc. are
covered within the eight periods. We avail of the recess after the third
period.
In
the classes we listen to the teachings of the teachers with rapt attention. The
recess is allowed for an hour. In the recess hour I take the Tiffin given by my
mother in a Tiffin box. I play some outdoor games like foot ball or cricket for
energizing my spirits. In the recess time also I talk of the topics taught in
the classes with my friends and come to class at 2 P.M.
The
recess breaks at 2 P.M. and thereafter we continue for four periods. The school
breaks up at 4.30 P.M. in the afternoon and I get back home. Having placed my
books and notes in the proper place I wash my hands and face. After having a
little Tiffin I proceed to the playground for playing games of different kinds.
I play hockey, kabadi, football, cricket and other games as it suits to me or
to my friends. In the playground students of different classes meet together
and make friends with one another.
I
return home at 6 P.M. and prepare my lessons after getting my dresses changed
and after washing my hands, feet and face. I begin my studies at about 6.30
P.M. and devote to the study of English and Science. As a matter of habit, I
read for about two and half hours and take my supper at 9.30 P.M.
There
is a slight change in the routine on Sunday which is a holiday. I engage myself
in washing the uniform dresses of school. I also visit a movie or theatre. I
spend the Sundays in a different way than on the other days. This is all about
my daily life as a student.
A Journey By Train
Children generally love to go out.
As such, they are very fond of making journeys frequently. They love all kinds
of journeys. I have frequently travelled by bus with my parents to different
places. However, last Sunday I had a memorable journey by train.
We reached the station at about
10.00 a.m. The train was to start at 10.15 a.m. My father bought tickets for
mother and me as also for himself. Immediately, we moved to platform No.1 where
the train was to arrive shortly. We had not been there on the platform for more
than a minute or two when the train arrived. We at once boarded it. We had
first class tickets with us. So, we found no difficulty in boarding the train.
I got a seat near the window. Soon,
the train started. I felt thrilled. I saw the platform moving backwards. At
first the train was slow but soon it gathered speed. Within a few minutes, it
gained the speed of the wind.
All the houses, poles, fields and
trees seemed to be running backwards. I saw farmers working in the fields.
Animals were also grazing there. Some women were picking up weeds from the
fields.
It was an express train. So, it did
not halt at small stations. Even at big stations and junctions, it halted only
for a few minutes. As the train halted some people bought eatables and drinks
from the vendors at the platforms. Some vendors also came within the
compartments. A travelling ticket Examiner came and checked our tickets.
It was late in the afternoon that
the train reached Kolkata. We alighted from it and through the exit gate came
out. Again our tickets were checked, now at the gate. We left for our uncle’s
house where we had to go.

Dear
Arif,
I
am glad to receive your letter. I have learnt much from your letter about your
country Japan. You have expressed your desire to know about my country,
Bangladesh. Bangladesh declared independence on 26 March 1971. It became free
from Pakistan on 16 December 1971 after a great liberation war. Bangladesh is a
small country with a large population. It is a democratic country with many
kinds of people. They follow different religions and customs. All these people
are free and have equal rights. Some people of these basic rights are the right
to food, health, shelter, and education. It is not easy for everyone to have
these basic rights, because they are expensive. Bangladesh is also a beautiful
country with many resources. It is a fertile land and where rice, jute, sugar-can,
tea and fruits grow in plenty. Bangladesh has rich deposit of oil, gas and
coal. It can utilize these resources and become prosperous. These things can
help Bangladesh to earn money and give basic rights to her peoples. No
more today.
With love and best
wishes.

Subject : Advising to be attentive to study.
My dear Jabed,
Yesterday I reached
mother’s letter. Reading the letter I’ve come to know that you are not
attentive in your studies. Mother is very worried about your study. Nowadays you often go out and remain
outside home even till evening. You know, this is never good for a student.
I’ve also come to know that your show lack of interest in study. But if you do
not study seriously, you won’t be able to do well in the examination. Your
scholarship exam is near at hand. So your lack of interest in study indicates
that you are planning to adopt unfair means in the examination. This is
extremely destructive and suicidal. If you do it, you will kill your future.
You’ll not be able to get scholarship and pursue higher studies. You won’t get
any good job either.
So from now be
serious about your study and get prepared for the coming scholarship
examination.
