1. Science in Everyday Life

Science has achieved a tremendous advancement during the last few decades. Every sphere of human life is influenced by science. From the time we get up from bed till time to go to bed we feel influence of science. The attachments of science to our everyday life are many. Yet let us mention some of our the major fields where we cannot do without science.

Electricity is the  first gift that we owe very much to science. It helps us to put on lights, running fans, refrigerators, television, washing machines and other electrical appliances. Computer also cannot run without electricity.

By using modern transports like bus, trucks, trains, aircrafts we can travel a long distance within a short time. Carrying  men and materials from one place to another has become easier.

Science is used commonly in medical science. It helps with the diagnosis of diseases and manufacturing and prescribing medicines. X-ray, E . C . G  etc are used to diagnose diseases very accurately.

With the help of science multi-storied buildings are constructed. Many people can be accommodated in these buildings at a time with all modern amenities like gas, electricity, telephone, satellite channels etc.

It has brought about a revolutionary change in the field of telecommunication. In the twinkle of an eye a message can be sent from one corner of the world to the other corner’s through fax, Telex, telephone, mobile, satellite and  internet.

We use science in weather forecasting nowadays. By studying the satellite pictures we can know about the impending weather and can take steps accordingly.

Scientific methods of cultivation are now being used to increase food production.

There are many other areas of everyday life where we use science. They are too many to mention. In short, we are indebted to science from our birth to our death. It would be ungratefulness if we do not acknowledge the boons of science in our everyday life.  

2. Duties of a Student

Student life is the best period of a man’s life. It is the most impotent time of life. It is called the sowing season of life. During this period, a student must cultivate some good qualities for bright future. The future of a person depends much on the student period because in this period a person’s future is created. Actually, the succeed and failure in man’s life depends much on the utilization of this period. 

There are much duty and responsibility of a student. The first and foremost duty of a student is to acquire knowledge. But, he must not confine himself to the prescribed books only. He must read newspaper, magazines, nobles, dramas during his leisure. This kind of reading will widen their mental horizon and enable them to be acquainted with many things of the world. Moreover, he should follow some rules and regulations. He should not waste valuable time. He should attend to his class regularly. We know that good health is the key to success. To be successful in life, a student must take care of his health. To keep his body fit, he should take regular physical exercise. Because, without taking physical exercise, a student cannot lead a healthy and comfortable life.

A student should not engage himself in his/her own work. He has also some duties and responsibilities to the people of the society. We know that most of the people of our country are poor and illiterate. A student can teach the illiterate people. He can help the villagers to change their poor condition. He can teach them about family planning, health, nutrition, children rising and scientific method of cultivation etc. During natural calamities, people need help. In time of flood, famine, cyclone, earthquake and epidemic students should come forward to help the affected people. They should collect food, clothes, medicine etc. and distribute them amongst the affected people. A student should respect his parents and teachers. He should be well behaved, punctual and disciplined in every sphere of life. He must abide by the rules and regulations of his institution. He must be gentle and amiable. He must also avoid evil company. He must be honest in life. Without honesty, any kind of succeed is not possible at all. A student must be truthful also. Because, truthfulness is the key to all succeed.

A student life is the time when he sows of his future life. Therefore, he should prepare his lessons regularly and proper use of time. She should not waste time idly. A student should bear in mind that if he do not perform his duties in time, he would suffer in the long run.

3. Food Problem in Bangladesh

Food problem is one of acute problem in our country. It means the shortage of basic food supply compared to the population. In fact, food problem or food crisis is acute not only in Bangladesh but also throughout the world. 

There are a good many reasons behind the food crisis in our country. Firstly, ours is a small but populous country. So it is simple difficult for us to provide the people with sufficient food. Secondly, our cultivable land area is reducing day by day. Because the increasing number of the people need habitat and so they are occupying the farmlands. As a result, our area of farmland is getting insufficient gradually. Thirdly, our is not developed country. The cultivation of food crops of Bangladesh largely depends on the whim of nature. Because they do not know the scientific method of cultivation. That is why, they cannot grow much crops compared to the production of the farmers of developed countries. Fourthly, our farmer are very neglected by the govt. and the authorities of concerned. They do not get much help, financial assistance and other facilities. So they are not encouraged to do better in growing more food crops. 

Food is the first basic need of man. So the shortages of food cause some fundamental problem for us. It creates instability in society and nation. Because due to food problem people have to suffer from malnutrition and many other diseases. It hinders the overall development of human resource. 

To mitigate the existing food problem is a crying need. To do so we have to take some effective initiatives. Firstly, the over-growth of population must be controlled. Secondly, our area of cultivable land should not be allowed to reduce. Thirdly, we have to introduce and practice the scientific method of cultivation. For this purpose our farmers have to be trained and skilled. Fourthly, our farmers should be evaluated duly and they should be given sufficient facilities. Above all our farmers should be honored and encouraged to grow more food crops. 

No Society or nation can go a long way through food crisis. So this problem must be mitigated at any rate. For this purpose the govt. as well as the authorities concerned will have to take necessary steps. Beside, all of us have to conscious and ardent to get rid of this problem.

4. The Rainy Season in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a land of verities of seasons. The rainy season is one of them. It comprises the Bengali months of Ashar and Sravan. After a long spell of hot weather the rainy season comes with her showers to cool the earth. This season is of paramount importance in an agricultural country like Bangladesh. It influences on our life and culture to a great extent.

The rainy season is caused by monsoon. The south west monsoon that blows in over Bangladesh from the Bay of Bengal brings much vapor with it. As a result, she receives a heavy rainfall during the monsoon.

Description: During the rainy season the sky often remains cloudy with patches of black clouds that hover across the sky close to the earth surface. Violent blasts of wind blow. Lighting flashes and thunder roars. The sun remains hidden behind the clouds and it rains in torrents. Sometimes there is continuous downpour for days together. Then water overflows the banks of the rivers. The fields go under water and looks like a vast sheetsof water.

The rainy season undoubtedly does us immense good. The nature assumes a new appearance at the advent of rainy season. Trees and plants come into foliage. The landscape appears green. The rain water washes away the filth and purifies the surface of the earth. It lessens the intense heat of summer and simulates the growing of vegetation and crops. It makes our land alluvial, fertile and suitable for growing better crops. Hilsha and other fishes are available in this season. The rainy season facilitates the navigation system in the country and thereby fosters our trade and commerce. It also makes everything lively and the atmosphere becomes clean and free of dust.

The rainy season no doubt does us much good. But it does not an unmixed blessing all the times. It has disadvantages too. During this season the roads at the country side become muddy and slippery and as such we cannot go from one place to another on foot easily. Sometimes heavy rainfall overflows the banks on the rivers and causes floods. Floods damage our crops; wash away the heads of our cattle, houses and properties. It also hampers our normal life.

The rainy season is the most important and useful of all the seasons in our country. This season is closely related to the economy of the country and prosperity of our people. Our agriculture mainly depends on it. It helps the natural to gain a new life. So whatever may be the disadvantages of the rainy season, this season is hailed by the people of Bangladesh. We always welcome this season and enjoy its beauty.

Concert For Bangladesh 1971

The Concert for Bangladesh was the name for two benefit concerts organized by former Beatles lead guitarist George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, held at 2.30 and 8 pm on Sunday, 1 August 1971, playing to a total of 40,000 people at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The shows were organized to raise international awareness and fund relief efforts for refugees from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), following the Bangladesh Liberation War-related genocide. The concerts were followed by a bestselling live album, a boxed three-record set, and Apple Films' concert documentary, which opened in cinemas in the spring of 1972. The event was the first-ever benefit concert of such a magnitude[1] and featured a super group of performers that included Harrison, fellow ex-Beatle Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Leon Russell and the band Badfinger. In addition, Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan – both of whom had ancestral roots in Bangladesh – performed an opening set of Indian classical music. Decades later, Shankar would say of the overwhelming success of the event: "In one day, the whole world knew the name of Bangladesh. It was a fantastic occasion. The concerts raised close to US$250,000 for Bangladesh relief, which was administered by UNICEF. Although the project was subsequently marred by financial problems – a result of the pioneering nature of the venture – the Concert for Bangladesh is recognized as a highly successful and influential humanitarian aid project, generating both awareness and considerable funds as well as providing valuable lessons and inspiration for projects that followed, notably Live Aid.[3][4][5] By 1985, through revenue raised from the Concert for Bangladesh live album and film, an estimated 12 million dollers had been sent to Bangladesh in relief. Sales of the live album and DVD release of the film continue to benefit the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF.
